Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Macit Özcan visited the delegations at the sports complex carrying his name where the Olympiad is being held and accepted all the representatives of the delegation, members of TCF board in Mersin and Honorary President of FIDE Florencio Campomannes. Ex under11 world schools champion CM Atilla Köksal Yüksel gave a gift of the jersey of the national team to Mr.Özcan. The mayor chatted with the players for a while reemphasizing his interest to make Mersin a city of chess. Campomannes noted that "It has been long since a sponsor visited the players during the event. This shows your genuine interest in chess and I believe that under your office Mersin will become a city of chess."  Özcan, then had memorial pictures with all of the visiting delegations. The mayor visits the tournament hall occasionally to watch the games.
